What is Riftbound? A New Era of Tabletop Combat
Riftbound isn't just another card game; it is a meticulously crafted physical translation of the League of Legends experience. In this game, you don't just play cards: you control the battlefield. Players bring a deck featuring their favourite champions, a secondary deck of "Runes" for resources, and a Battlefield card that determines where the fight takes place.
The objective is simple yet deeply strategic: be the first to reach 8 points. You score points by conquering and holding battlefields. It captures the "push and pull" of a League match perfectly. You’ll find yourself moving units between your base and various lanes, deciding when to "all-in" on a showdown and when to retreat and regroup.
One of the standout mechanics is the Rune System. Unlike other games where you might get "mana screwed," Riftbound uses a separate Rune deck. Every turn, you gain resources, ensuring the game stays fast-paced and focused on your tactical decisions rather than your luck of the draw. How to Prepare for Your First Nexus Night
Ready to step through the portal? Here is a quick checklist to get you game-ready for Wednesday at 6 PM:
- Bring Your Deck: If you have a deck, bring it! If you’re brand new, come a few minutes early. We often have starter decks available or community members willing to lend a spare deck for the night.
- Learn the Phases: Familiarise yourself with the Awaken, Beginning, and Action phases. Knowing how to "Awaken" your units and check for battlefield control at the start of your turn will make your first few games much smoother.
- Grab Some Gear: Make sure you have your Battlefield card and your Rune deck. These are essential for a legal game of Riftbound.
